The meeting included discussions on the required Board of Ethics training and the completion of Conflict of Interest forms. An interim CEO survey was sent to staff and board members to evaluate Ms. Wilbern's role. The Interim CEO's report covered school performance data, challenges and improvements during the first quarter, plans for celebrating the founding class, and COVID-19 updates, including weekly testing policies.
The committee discussed the academy's financial status, including cash on hand and the impact of Hurricane Ida. The costs were related to substitute costs and a standstill in donations. The committee also discussed BESE ruling 126, which calls for charter schools to protect public funding by ensuring all funds are insured or collateralized over the FDIC limit. The committee agreed with the recommendation to move all public funds to Resource Bank because they could secure the funds at the least cost to Bricolage.
