The Frontier Regional & Union #38 District Strategic Plan provides a clear roadmap for educational excellence, student success, and a positive school culture. It is structured around five key objectives: curriculum, coherence and system equity, assessment and feedback, governance, and family and community engagement. The plan aims to foster a learning environment where every student is empowered to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally, and undergoes annual review to ensure continued growth and success.
The agenda included the presentation of the Superintendent's Award for Academic Excellence, a review of the FY26 Budget, and discussions on graduation requirements and competency determination. New business involved accepting donations for an entryway sign, including one from Yankee Candle, approving a new contract for the Director of Business Administration, and addressing funding for a Fire Panel project. The committee also discussed immigration enforcement in schools and collective bargaining strategies with teachers and instructional assistants.
The Deerfield School Committee meeting included discussions and updates on various topics. The financial statement was presented, and updates were provided on specific line items with no major concerns noted. The Principal's Report was given to the School Committee. There was a playground update regarding a meeting with the CPC for funding. A summary of the SEPAC annual report was provided, discussing areas of strength and improvement. Initial phases of the FY26 Budget have started. The MOU New Sick Leave Bank Amendment to Unit A & Unit C contracts and the School Improvement Plan were approved. A summary of the 2023 MASC Conference Delegates Report was shared. Informal updates were provided around the development of a district wide strategic plan and social emotional training opportunities for teachers and families. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) will be conducting a district review to evaluate systems, policies, and practices. Preliminary drafts of the FY26 budget are ready and will be presented at the January School Committee meetings.
