Corporate Services Committee Meeting
The committee discussed the appointment of a screening officer and a hearing officer as part of the implementation of the Administrative Monetary Penalty (AMP) system. Arguments were presented regarding the potential cost-effectiveness of this system compared to utilizing the provincial judicial system for bylaw enforcement. The committee reviewed the fee structures for screening and hearing officers and debated the efficiency and user-friendliness of resolving infractions locally versus through the court system, emphasizing the importance of education and voluntary compliance in the enforcement process.
