The committee reviewed a staff report regarding authorization for funding for police body cameras. Discussions centered on a grant opportunity from the Office of Criminal Justice Services to offset the costs of body-worn cameras, including licensing and storage fees. Due to an upcoming grant application deadline, the committee moved to proceed with emergency legislation to pursue the funding. The committee also acknowledged that the body camera software is integrated with the department's existing in-car camera systems.
The meeting focused on the review and approval of signage for a business, specifically regarding the addition of lettering on a building facade. The commission also engaged in a discussion concerning the ongoing review of materials for a dumpster and smoker screening fence, noting that chain-link fencing with barbed wire is not permitted by code, and discussed the transition of commission membership.
